A Return to Vector Art
It's been a long time since I last worked in Illustrator, and over the years, my skills had become a bit rusty and sometimes only the bad parts of memory remain. IIllustrator and I had a complicated relationship, part love and part hate.
While job hunting, I came across an intriguing Indeed post for Gray Duck Art, a website that offers paint-by-number kits of your beloved pets. Inspired by the challenge, I decided to create a custom artwork of my cat, Gizmo.
Could I have chosen an easier subject? Absolutely. But as a fur parent, I couldn’t resist the challenge of capturing my busy tabby’s fur in all its seemingly random stripped glory. The process reignited my passion for vector art, and I found myself eager to experiment further.
Now, I feel inspired to bring all the pets in my life into this artistic style, blending patience with creativity and, of course, a lot of fur.
